Good ranch / quarter horses have to be rugged and sturdy. The quarter horse has to be sure footed, athletic and clever. This equine should have a nice large kind eye. The quarter horse should have a lot of try, a manageable temperament, a responsive set of controls, with basic intelligence. The quarter horse has great stamina, willingness, staying power and adaptability. Appendix Quarter Horses are a mix breed of thoroughbred & quarter horse crossed bloodlines. Thoroughbreds are high energy animals and of course take a steady amount of feed to fuel these high energy equines. Thoroughbreds can travel at speeds from 0- 45 miles an hour. Some racetracks have a speed gun on the thoroughbreds while they are racing around the track. Most thoroughbreds are bay, chestnut, and black, grey. Thoroughbred owners & trainers like to see these horses to grow up to be in height range of 15.3 hands to 17.3 hands.

Pure breed Connemara ponies / horses are Ireland's native breed. The Connemara stands with good strong, stout, legs under them. Connemara ponies/ horses are easy keepers who do not require rich / special diets to stay fit and healthy. Connemara ponies / horses do well in a herd setting and in pasture settings with a shelter. Connemara's have a natural jumping ability, with a smooth, fast walk. Connemara ponies/ horses are suitable for cattle penning, cattle sorting, trail riding, and dressage, pony club, pole bending, jumping, fox hunting, western riding, ranch work, driving, pulling a buggy or a sleigh. Connemara’s are best known for their high endurance, sharp intelligence and their big hearts with lots of try. Connemara's are usually shared by all family members and friends that enjoy different equine activities. . Their height usually ranges from 12 to 16.3 hands.

When buying a horse the purchaser should consider they may need to take some handling and riding lessons to help them become more connected with their new horse.
